Coated stainless steel gasket for mounting the ancillary bracket to the block on all 300Tdi engines. Well known for failing these gaskets like to be replaced on a regular basis. DO NOT use a paper gasket here; it will fail.
Take great care undoing the three lower bolts on the water pump. These long bolts pass through a water jacket and are often rusted in. Use a six-point socket to prevent the heads rounding off, and apply gentle steady pressure to move them. New bolts are available.
